‘Miss Sherlock’
Miss Sherlock is HBO Asia’s bold new gender-switched version of the Sherlock Holmes story. The 45-minute-long procedural show launched this weekend worldwide and it takes the spirit of the BBC’s successful Sherlock series and sets it in modern Tokyo. “Miss Sherlock” is a brilliant, yet difficult, consulting detective who gets thrown in the path of a young doctor recently returned from Syria. Together, they make an unlikely team solving a series of grisly crimes. The show is a fun, pulpy adventure for hardcore Holmes fans, but be advised: the mysteries lack the depth of their BBC counterparts (and it’s pretty obvious that the Cumberbatch/Freeman show inspired this one).
