‘Mr. Mom’
Michael Keaton may be most recently familiar as The Founder and Birdman, but he was once a Mom—specifically, Mr. Mom. In this John Hughes-scripted comedy, released 34 years ago today (!), Keaton portrays a laid off Detroit auto worker who takes the reins on his three-child household while wife Teri Garr returns to the workforce as an ad exec. Domestic hilarity ensues, of course, as do slightly more sinister occurrences, including extra-marital temptations as well as sexism in the workplace. The ending may seem a bit dated now, but Mr. Mom is an enjoyable, and star-studded, window into the early 80s.
