‘Never Have I Ever’
I’m a film reporter, so my version of binge-watching is usually a double feature or a single viewing of The Irishman. Yet the first episode of Never Have I Ever, the new teen series from Mindy Kaling, pulled me in and didn’t spit me out again until the final episode. Scratch that, it still hasn’t spit me out, because I’m still thinking about Devi, my perfect flawed daughter (played by 18-year-old Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, a revelation). I love Devi, you guys. I love that she’s hot-headed and boy-crazy, just like I was as a teen. I love that she does everything wrong. I love that she runs away from her trauma. And I love that she has two cute boys vying for her attention, a classic love triangle that has me nostalgic for the golden years of Gilmore Girls. If you haven’t yet binged this delicious, delightful, binge-able show, do yourself a favor and get to it.
