‘New York Stories’
Released in late 1989, ‘New York Stories’ is a unique release bringing together three major directors: Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, and Woody Allen. Each direct one segment of this anthology film, ostensibly showing three stories from New York-set characters. Allen’s is comical, Coppola’s a take on ‘Eloise,’ and Scorsese’s, by far the best of the three, an examination of the ‘tortured’ artist (Nick Nolte) and concomitant passions and inspirations.
