‘Night Of The Living Dead’ (1990)
The only man who could have the audacity to remake Night of the Living Dead would be the frequent George A. Romero collaborator and “godfather of gore” himself, Tom Savini. Romero actually rewrote his original 1968 screenplay for his friend, who makes his feature directorial debut with this rousing yet restrained take on the classic zombie tale. While many of the story beats remain the same, Romero and Savini’s biggest change is turning Barbra (a wonderful Patricia Tallman) from a passive protagonist to an all-out badass final girl.
