‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 6
Netflix’s 2014 deal to acquire the US rights to Peaky Blinders, an original production of the BBC, was low-key one of the best investments the streaming giant has ever made. Over the course of its six seasons, the show has followed the exploits of the notorious Shelby clan as they gain power, influence, and notoriety in England during the early 20th century. Based on a true story, the show is a triumph of exuberant style — particularly the way the show discordantly blends modern music (White Stripes, Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Arctic Monkeys) with its sooty, second Industrial Revolution-era visuals — and features powerhouse performances from the likes of Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, the late Helen McCrory, and more. While there won’t be a Season 7, series creator Steven Knight has promised to bring the further adventures of the Peaky Blinders gang to the big screen soon.
