‘Robin Hood’
Was Robin Hood just a vanity project for Russell Crowe and his friends? Possibly. But does that necessarily make it a bad movie? Directed by Ridley “King of Medieval Action Sequences” Scott, this Robin Hood adaptation centers on Robin Longstride, who returns to England with his friends after King Richard is killed in the crusade after promising a dying Sir Robert Locksley to return his sword to his father in Nottingham. When fulfilling that duty, Robin finds himself smack dab in the middle of a brewing civil war, incited in part by the French as an excuse to invade and conquer a divided England! With delightful supporting turns from Cate Blanchett, Oscar Isaac, Mark Strong, William Hurt and Max von Sydow, Robin Hood provides an interesting take on a classic tale despite having raised quite a few critical eyebrows upon its release.
