‘Terrifier 2’

When you think about the pantheon of terrifying clowns, a few names rise to the top: Wrinkles (Wrinkles The Clown), Twisty (American Horror Story: Freak Show), and of course Pennywise (IT). Well, it’s high time to add Art The Clown, the silent “star” of the Terrifier series, to that list.

Art first appeared in 2013’s All Hallow’s Eve, the anthology series written and directed by burgeoning goremeister Damien Leone, before getting his own stand-alone pic with the ultra low budget (yet ultra gory) Terrifier movie in 2016. The runaway success of that film on Netflix led to an increased budget for Terrifier 2, which was a surprise box office hit during the 2022 Halloween spooky szn, grossing over $10 million while generating headlines for its stomach-churning, vomit-inducing scenes of extreme violence.

Reader, I can confirm that the press reports were true: This movie is truly disgusting, but it also represents a significant step-up from both Leone and Art The Clown, the latter of whom is evolving into a pop culture icon. (He even cameos in the new Pete Davidson Peacock series, Bupkis!) Get on board now that the film is streaming on Prime Video … if you can stomach it.
