‘The Big Door Prize’

Looking for a captivating new comedy to fill the Shrinking void in your life? The perfect follow-up show exists, and you don’t even to leave Apple TV+ to find it. The Big Door Prize, the streamer’s new 10-episode sci-fi series from Schitt’s Creek writer/EP David West Read premiered three incredibly charming episodes on March 29, and believe me when I say the series only gets better with time. Adapted from M.O. Walsh’s 2020 novelThe Big Door Prize shines a blue glow on Deerfield, a small town that’s thrown into chaos when a seemingly clairvoyant “MORPHO” machine mysteriously appears and starts spitting out small blue envelopes that contain recipients’ life potentials. Each breezy 30-minute episode spotlights a new character, with Chris O’Dowd, Gabrielle Dennis, Josh Segarra, and Damon Gupton standing out in a truly talented ensemble. On top of stunning lighting and set design, the series features sharp scripts, delightful physical comedy, and powerful performances that will make you question your own purpose.
