‘The Sparks Brothers’
Longtime L.A. duo Sparks fall into that familiar pop/rock profile of underrated and underknown act with famous fans and outsized influence. And while the brothers Ron and Russell Mael have released twenty-five albums (and counting) since the 1970’s, they hardly fit the image of aging legacy act. In fact, the two today seems as creative and clever as ever, and amid a sea of celebrity talking heads in Edgar Wright’s The Sparks Brothers, it’s the two Maels themselves who are the most charismatic. An engaging watch (and listen) even for those unfamiliar with their dazzling music.
