‘To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar’
One of the very first mainstream Hollywood films to celebrate drag queens, To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar is still as hilarious as ever. After winning a New York City drag queen contest, Vida Boheme (Patrick Swayze) and Noxeema Jackson (Wesley Snipes) decide to bring fledging drag performer Chi-Chi Rodriguez (John Leguizamo) with them on a cross-country road trip to the Miss Drag Queen of America Pageant. However along the way, their vintage Cadillac breaks down, forcing them to stay in the small town of Snydersville for a weekend. There, they bond with the kindly townspeople and broaden some sheltered minds. In the end, To Won Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar is an eternal story of acceptance and a time capsule of a much different time for drag in America.
