‘Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory’
In this 1971 musical jaunt through an inviting “world of pure imagination”—complete with lickable wallpaper, fizzy lifting drinks and golden egg-laying geese—kids will nonetheless see a warning for badly-behaved children. But the adults who told this tale (from author Roald Dahl to director Mel Stuart and star Gene Wilder) are actually chastising their own indulgent—and thus wicked—peers. Far superior to its detached and more sadistic 2005 remake.
