‘Young Frankenstein’
Over time, parody has come to mean something else. But back in Mel Brooks’ heyday, it meant brilliant movies like Young Frankenstein, which mercilessly picks apart old monster flicks while working as one, itself. Gene Wilder is in his prime as Dr. Frankenstein (“it’s pronounced Franken-STEEN”), Peter Boyle and Marty Feldman are perfect foils as the Monster, and Igor respectively. And the rest of the stacked cast, from Teri Garr, to Madeline Kahn, to Gene Hackman is all top notch and hilarious. Full of quotable set-pieces and goofy jokes, the only thing scary about Young Frankenstein is how good it is.
