‘Young Justice’
Given the title and the focus on DC Comics’ younger heroes, Young Justice is shockingly mature storytelling. Unlike many cartoons built around the Justice League’s sidekicks, the characters on Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman’s show are allowed to grow, change, mature and leave the roster. Plus, the threats are real and palpable, making this not just a worthy successor to all-time greats like Justice League Unlimited and Batman: The Animated Series, but a necessary evolution. Unfortunately for fans of the show, it only ran for two seasons on Cartoon Network before moving to the DC Universe streaming service for Season 3. Good news for new fans, though: it’s an easy binge. Great voice work by actors ranging from Walking Dead‘s Khary Payton, to former teen stars Danica McKellar and Jesse McCartney, and top-notch action make this a must-watch for fans of the superhero genre.
