Final Shots: Hulu Dropping The “Plus,” But Adding AMC, ‘Seinfeld’

Hulu had a big day today. The streaming service revealed that they had indeed snagged the streaming rights to Seinfeld (though possibly for $130 million, and not the estimated $180 million first reported). However, Hulu has also bought the exclusive rights to AMC Networks’ programming slate, starting with Fear The Walking Dead. They also teased future original content from producers such as J.J. Abrams and Amy Poehler. The biggest change? Well, it looks like they will be subtracting the “Plus” from Hulu Plus in the near future… [Variety]

Mae Whitman will not be reprising her role of First Daughter in the Independence Day sequel. Instead, she’s being replaced by It Follows star Maika Monroe, and some are suggesting that Whitman is out because she’s “not hot enough.” Yikes. [E!]
