Just in case you weren’t already obsessed with Millie Bobby Brown’s powerful performance as Eleven in Netflix‘s Stranger Things, Brown just released a video of her epic shave. Yes, it is amazing, and yes, Beyonce is involved.

This past Sunday, the 12-year-old actress released a video of her intense shave on Twitter. Brown plays Jane ‘Eleven’ Ives on Netflix’s ‘80s miniseries, a traumatized psychokinetic girl with a disturbing past. The series was released on July 15, and almost immediately Brown’s unblinking portrayal of the confused, powerful, and ultimately vulnerable Eleven stole viewers’ hearts. However, one of the most surprisingly fierce aspects of this character is her haircut.

Eleven has a shaved head, a measure that was taken to make the government tests inflicted on her easier. It’s rare for a little girl to be the protagonist of a major series, but its even more rare when that protagonist doesn’t look traditionally feminine. In an interview with ELLE (which was conducted by Aaron Paul), the British actress revealed that her mom was initially against the cut.

“My mom was like, ‘No! That’s not happening.’ And I was like, ‘Mom. You need to chill out; it’s gonna grow back,'” Brown said. Typical mom response.

However, Brown herself was initially hesitant about the dramatic cut as well. In order to convince the young actress to shave off her locks, directors Matt and Ross Duffer reportedly brought up how badass Charlize Theron looked as Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road. That was all the argument Brown needed. You can watch the show defining haircut below:

So to recap, this video shows one of the most dynamic breakout stars of the summer — a 12-year-old girl — abandoning typical expectations of femininity so she can play a genre-bending badass character. An actress who was inspired by one our fictional feminist icons of 2015. While “Pretty Hurts” plays, which is by our queen and hero of all things feminist Beyonce. We’re running out of ways to say “YES.”
