Abby Huntsman Is Facing Massive Backlash After Joining ‘The View’: You’re “Making a Deal With the Devil”

On Tuesday, Fox & Friends Weekend host Abby Huntsman confirmed that she’ll be joining The View for Season 22. Both Huntsman and ABC expressed their excitement about the addition, but it seems that not everyone is quite so happy. Since announcing her decision, the former Fox News host has received intense backlash from fans who feel that she’s “making a deal with the devil” by joining the left-leaning talk show.

The majority of the blowback is coming from Instagram, where Huntsman posted a photo of The View’s Season 22 co-hosts. The picture itself is fairly innocent: it’s just Huntsman standing next to fellow panelists Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Meghan McCain, and Whoopi Goldberg in front of a blank backdrop. “It’s official!” says the caption. “Thrilled to rejoin so many friends where it all began for me in TV, at @abcnews – running scripts, getting coffee, covering the overnight news desk, and logging tape – never dreamt back then that I would one day join the ladies at @theviewabc table. Get excited for Season 22.”

Huntsman’s fans, however, are less than thrilled that she’s cozying up to the likes of Goldberg and Behar. The comments beneath the photo are filled with angry messages from right-leaning viewers, many of whom feel that, even though Hunstman will serve as a conservative voice at the table alongside McCain, she’s deserting her party by joining The View.

“Really? Your joining that failing show??” asked one commenter. “So disappointed in you Abby…wouldn’t that be a demotion? Wow never watch the wicked women of The View and will continue not to watch,” said another. “Bad mistake Abby,” wrote a third user. “Sorry. No Republicans will watch so there goes your fans. The Dems over there in that goofy audience and viewers will hate you.”
Right-wing fans aren’t the only ones who are mad about Huntsman joining The View; their friends across the aisle are pissed, too.

But not everyone is spewing hate in the comments section. For every angry (and sometimes offensive) commenter, there’s a fan wishing Huntsman the best. “A rose among thorns,” someone wrote on Instagram. “Best of luck Abby!” said another. “I will miss you on Fox!”

Huntsman will make her View debut on Tuesday, September 4.
