Netflix’s ‘The Recruit’ Trailer: Noah Centineo Works For the CIA Now

Get ready for the surprise of your life: Noah Centineo now works for the CIA. Well, not literally, but his character does on the new Netflix series The Recruit, in which he plays a CIA lawyer struggling to keep it together when an asset tries to expose agency secrets. Soon, this young lawyer must run from danger much bigger than he anticipated.

Fans of The Rookie will be in for a treat, as the show was created and written by executive producer and showrunner Alexi Hawley. So expect intense writing and impressive action sequences, as writer Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Bourne Identity) has directed several episodes of the series. English writer and director Alex Kalymnios, whose credits include directing episodes of S.W.A.T., Titans, and Quantico, has also directed a few episodes. Centineo himself executive produced the series.

As Hawley told viewers at Netflix’s Tudum event in September, “None of us can realistically dream of being James Bond, but all of us have had a first job — with co-workers we can’t trust and agendas we don’t understand. Only, at the CIA, those hidden agendas can get you killed.”

The Recruit Trailer:

Netflix released the trailer for Centineo’s The Recruit on November 16. In the trailer, Centineo is Owen Hendricks, a highly stressed lawyer and new recruit at the CIA (hence the title) who is being asked to “figure it out” and shut down anyone who attempts to release classified information. But things soon start to go south, as Hendricks is being tracked down by the UN and various criminals, even at one point being kidnapped with a hood over his head. Still, Hendricks is willing and able to get through it, at one point even saying, “I’m a guy that doesn’t mind falling on his face.” It also appears to have some funny moments, as Hendricks, who is 24, asks the bartender for a White Claw instead of a martini (and honestly same).

The Recruit Plot Synopsis:

Expect to see a different side of Centineo. According to the Netflix Tudum website, the show is as follows.

Centineo stars as Owen Hendricks, a young CIA lawyer whose first week on the job gets off to a rocky start. After discovering a threatening letter by former asset Max Meladze (Laura Haddock), who’s planning to expose the agency unless they exonerate her of a serious crime, Owen finds himself entangled in a dangerous and absurd world of power politics and mischievous players. As if the stakes weren’t already high enough, he must now travel the world in hopes of completing his assignment and making a mark at the CIA.

The Recruit Cast:

Alongside Centineo, there’s a lot of other cast members on The Recruit to watch out for. Atypical’s Fivel Stewart also stars, as well as Colton Dunn (Fairfax, Star Trek: Lower Decks), Laura Haddock (White Lines), Vondi Curtis-Hall (Raymond & Ray, Blue Bayou), and Aarti Mann (The Big Bang Theory, Love Sonia). Byron Mann (Wu Assassins) also has a recurring role.

When Does The Recruit Premiere?

The Recruit is set to premiere on Netflix on December 16. And like, Hendricks, we also recommend a White Claw while watching.
