Good news! After a nearly two-year hiatus, Netflix finally dropped Season 2 of Ginny & Georgia on January 5, 2023. The bad news? The 10 new episodes ended in yet another major cliffhanger and now the wait for Season 3 begins.

Sarah Lamptert’s crime-filled series follows single mother Georgia (Brianne Howey) and her kids Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and Austin (Diesel La Torraca) as they attempt to build a stable life in Wellsbury, Massachusetts. Season 1 ended with Ginny learning about her mom’s troubled, mysterious past. And Season 2 ends with Georgia’s past finally catching up to her — just not in the way viewers might expect.

If you’ve sped through Ginny & Georgia Season 2 and are wondering if and when the story will continue, you’re not alone. Curious when Ginny & Georgia Season 3 is coming to Netflix?

Here’s everything we know about the future of the series, its renewal status, production updates, and potential Season 3 storylines.

Will There Be A Ginny & Georgia Season 3 On Netflix?

Though Netflix hadn’t officially renewed Ginny & Georgia on its Season 2 premiere day, considering Season 2 ended on a major cliffhanger, fans had hope that Netflix would bring the series back for a Season 3. In May 2023, fans were proven right when the streamer renewed Ginny & Georgia for Season 3 AND announced an early Season 4 renewal!

That’s right, folks. Ginny, Georgia, and the rest of your favorite fictional Wellsbury characters are returning to screen — but it might be a while before you see them again…

Ginny & Georgia Season 3 Production Updates:

Though much about Ginny & Georgia Season 3 remains unknown, Netflix finally gave fans a solid production update on April 29, 2024.

“HERE WE GO,” Netflix posted on its official X account. “Ginny and Georgia Season 3 is now in production!” In addition to the update, Netflix shared three behind-the-scenes photos of the Ginny & Georgia cast reuniting at a table read. Brianne Howey, Antonia Gentry, Felix Mallard, Sara Waisglass, Diesel La Torraca, Scott Porter, Raymond Ablack, and more are seen flashing huge smiles and holding up three fingers alongside Season 3 scripts, so it seems like another exciting season awaits.

Ginny & Georgia Season 3 Release Date:

Like so many other TV series and films, Ginny & Georgia‘s production was impacted by the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. A recent Facebook post from USA Production News suggested that Ginny & Georgia Season 3 filming would begin in April 2024, and now that we got the above update we’ll have to wait for future information on a release day. Earlier this month, Deadline reported that Ginny & Georgia was one of the Netflix series that wouldn’t be airing new episodes until 2025, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Despite the delays the stars of the show are excited to bring more of their characters’ stories to screen. “It feels surreal still,” SAG Award ambassador Antonia Gentry, who plays Georgia’s daughter, Ginny, told Tudum when Season 2 premiered in January. “The show’s success has meant so much to me. More so, just because it’s touched so many people globally.”

So what could the future of Ginny & Georgia look like? Well, per Tudum, creator Sarah Lampert has the story “all planned out.”

What Will Season 3 of Ginny & Georgia Look Like?

Ginny & Georgia’s jam-packed Season 2 finale kicked off with Georgia, Ginny, and Austin recovering from their chaotic fight with Gil, and it ended with Georgia being driven away from her wedding in a cop car after being arrested for the murder of Cynthia’s husband, Tom Fuller. Phew! That’s a lot. But it also means there’s a lot to unpack when Ginny & Georgia returns for additional episodes.

We’ll likely get to see the aftermath of Georgia’s arrest — including everyone’s reaction to the arrest, how the crime impacts Georgia’s marriage to Paul (and his role as mayor), and where Georgia and Cynthia stand. “When we had to develop the storyline for Season 2, we knew exactly what we wanted Season 3 to be,” Lampert told Tudum ahead of Season 2’s premiere. “Georgia needed to kill someone and she needed to kill someone in Wellsbury, Massachusetts.”

Lampert also said that Season 3 will feature “new hurdles, new relationships and new challenges… in a way we haven’t seen before on the show.” So in true Ginny & Georgia fashion, we’ll likely see the shows other core relationships continue to grow — including Georgia and Joe, Ginny and Marcus, and Max and Silver. We may also see more of Gil now that Georgia was put behind bars. Yikes!

Ginny & Georgia leaves quite a few loose ends at the end of Season 2, so here’s hoping a Season 3 can help tie things up.

Ginny & Georgia is now streaming on Netflix.
