Okay — deep breath — I've waited my entire life to mansplain this to people. The new "Captain America" trailer needs a little bit of context or homework, if you aren't a nerd.

After the events of the Disney Plus TV series "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier," Anthony Mackie's character Sam Wilson is now officially Captain America. Danny Ramirez's Joaquin Torres was promoted to be the new Falcon, and we're now set up for a new era of political espionage.

The first major news is that General Thaddeus Ross has been elected to be the president of America — Played by Harrison Ford, he replaced the recently departed actor William Hurt, who passed away in 2022. Ross's character, having spent so much time around Bruce Banner, Samuel Sterns (aka The Leader) and gamma radiation, is the one who becomes the Red Hulk you see in the trailer.

There's still loads to unpack, including Giancarlo Esposito's character and Shire Haas as Ruth Bat-Seraph aka Sabra, a Jewish super spy and former Black Widow agent that's Israel's answer to Captain America. But for now, enjoy Ford in the new trailer.
