For 56 years and counting, we have been raising money for sick kids in WA, and Bankwest has been supporting us from the start! Paul Jeffery (pictured) volunteered at the very first Telethon in 1968, counting cash donations at the bank. Since then, Bankwest staff have clocked more than 20,000 hours volunteering for Telethon. Laura Bowkett (pictured) has been volunteering in the call centre each year for the last decade! As part of their 'Give a little. Get a little back' campaign, Bankwest has put QR codes on buses, billboards, and train stations urging donations to Telethon. Telethon is funding a revolutionary new machine to help diagnose rare conditions faster.    For the first time, clinically accredited whole genome sequencing will be available locally, sparing families the need to send samples interstate and overseas, enduring long waits.   The new NovaSeq whole genome sequencing machine will be a game changer for children like Bayleigh.   The machine will offer faster answers to medical mysteries and positions WA at the forefront of genomic testing in Australia. In 2023, the WA community rallied together, raising a record-breaking $77.5 million for our sick and disadvantaged children. This incredible generosity allowed us to reach more beneficiaries than ever before! Yesterday morning, more than 350 children and their families joined The Healthy Strides Foundation Move-a-thon Community Fundraiser at Optus Stadium. What a way to bring our community together and watch kids helping kids by wheeling, running and encouraging each other to complete laps around the Stadium. A huge thank you to Mineral Resources Limited who have supported The Healthy Strides Foundation with sponsorship of this event since it began last year. The energy and enthusiasm from the participants and their supporters were inspiring and raised a huge $37,000 for Telethon!! Thanks to the generosity of Western Australians, this year Telethon will be financially supporting an incredible 136 children’s charities, beneficiaries and community organisations that are pivotal to advancing medical research and providing essential services, equipment and programs for sick and vulnerable children and their families all over WA. Progress update on the 2024 Telethon Home! 🏡 Thanks to our amazing partners at Blueprint Homes and Satterley Property Group, the build is in full swing. Brickwork is complete, walls are up, and we're onto the next stage - the roof! 🔨 👷♂️ This year's Telethon Home is being built in Clementine Estate, Upper Swan.
