Pathways provides contemporary, community based Rites of Passage for boys 13-15 yo.(Pathways to Manhood) and for girls 12-15 yo.(Pathways into Womanhood). I've advised the leadership of The Pathways Foundation on issues around online privacy and safety, and participated in both junior and senior boys programs with my son. I credit Pathways Foundation with helping me build a constructive, trusting and open relationship with my young man, who has since gone on to become a trainee leader in the Pathways to Manhood program. I continue to donate to support the important work of this grassroots organisation and highly recommend it to parents and families.

Attended and supported by then- Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Lucy Turnbull, Policyhack was an initiative of Australian startup accelerator BlueChilli and Assistant Minister for Innovation Wyatt Roy. Over an intense weekend of ideation and collaboration, 150 people including senior public service leaders and subject-matter experts formed teams with volunteer experts from the tech and social impact industries to draft solutions to pressing problems in Australian innovation and government delivery of services. Two of the ten initiatives formulated at Policyhack went on to be funded and implemented.

FIRST inspires young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators by engaging them in programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

At the Regional AsiaPac competitions, teams of students and mentors from high schools and universities from across Asia and the Pacific build and compete with robots that perform in a competitive but cooperative format.

Students learn valuable life skills like teamwork, collaboration, public speaking, technical science and engineering skills, and 'Gracious Professionalism'.

Helping them are their adult mentors including industry engineers, school teachers, university lecturers, university students, FIRST alumni and others. These mentors use their experience to teach, guide and shape the students through the FIRST Robotics Competition program.

For several years it's been my honour and privilege to serve as a judge for both of the highest individual awards on offer in FIRST, the Chairman's Award and Dean's List Award. Winners of these awards and winners of the team awards gain entry into the world championships held each year in the US.

As a resident of the northern suburbs of Sydney and a tech industry leader it's my mission to help policy makers, government leaders and the broader general public understand that Australia's tech startup ecosystem extends across the Sydney Harbour Bridge into the north shore of the city and that we have great opportunities to explore in developing the tech ecosystem in our commercial and light industrial areas on the north shore. In addition to serving on the advisory board I coach and judge pitch competitions and provide one-on-one exec coaching for NSIN members.
