The FIFA Global Football Development Division and a delegation of the Technical Study Group (TSG) were invited to the Olympique de Marseille La Commanderie centre Robert Louis Dreyfus, as part of their work of analysing the growth of the game. Arsène Wenger, Steven Martens, Ulf Schott, Pascal Zuberbühler and Tom Gardner were joined by a number of key figures from Olympique de Marseille, including first team head coach Roberto de Zerbi, Jean-Pierre Papin, Fabrizio Ravanelli, Marco Otero and President Pablo Longoria. The Technical Study Group, which studies trends and benchmarks for the future of the game and the impact on coach education and talent development, is in France for the 2024 Olympic Games, with the Men’s and Women’s Olympic Football Tournaments underway across the country. FIFA Chief of Global Football Development, Arsène Wenger, said: “One of the purposes of the visit is to strengthen and favour relationships between FIFA and Olympique de Marseille. We are ensuring players talent development all over the world and it’s important for us to see what’s in place in France. “France is one of the top nations in terms of developing and training the youth and Marseille is an important club, so we are grateful to have been invited by the club for a great day of exchange. The facilities and staff are great add we will follow what’s happening here closely.” Head Coach of Olympique de Marseille Pro Team 2, Jean-Pierre Papin, said: “It’s always beneficial to meet with such great football people who truly understand football. Their view is important and being able to also show them what we are doing is great.” Former Switzerland International Goalkeeper, and current FIFA Football expert Pascal Zuberbühler, commented: “FIFA TSG is tasked with ensuring we have the best approach possible to using data to improve football education and development across the world. "Having the opportunity to visit the facilities and training sites major club's such as Olympique de Marseille is a valuable experience for all involved, and we thank everyone there for the warm welcome, as well sharing some of their invaluable insights and expertise.”
