On web, notes navigation has received a refresh, with improved spacing and color highlights that make it easier to know exactly what you’re viewing.
For the first batch of new communities, we were auto-adding new admins into the public Communities Feedback and private Admin Zone communities. Now that the volume of new communities has increased exponentially, we’ve decided to stop auto-adding people to those communities. Instead, soon we hope to make the Communities Feedback community free-to-join, and send admins an invite link to the Admin Zone so they can choose if they want to join. In the meantime, if you have any questions/problems/feedback, please reach out to Support.
🛠 Fixed
When searching within blogs, search results are now correctly ordered from newest to oldest.
When browsing communities, the “New stuff alert” notice now properly reflects the community you’re viewing.

🛠 Fixes

We’re aware of ongoing Ray Ban post spam and are working to resolve it. We encourage everyone to use strong, unique passwords.
Heads up! We’re changing the way we parse URLs on tagged and search pages, to properly encode/decode them to support spaces, hyphens, plus signs, and underscores. Most of these changes will be invisible to you, but if you’ve kept bookmarks or links to tagged and search pages on Tumblr or your blog, read on!
What does it do? Today, and with that toggle disabled, going to a blog’s tagged URL like https://staff.tumblr.com/tagged/tumblr-tuesday would turn “tumblr-tuesday” into “tumblr tuesday” and you’d see posts with that tag. Same with search URLs. If you have that toggle enabled, that https://staff.tumblr.com/tagged/tumblr-tuesday URL will be decoded as “tumblr-tuesday” instead. If you want to link to the “tumblr tuesday” tag on your blog, you’ll have to use “tumblr%20tuesday” in the URL. But this means that if you use certain special characters in your tags, you’ll now properly be able to link to them!
The toggle above gives you early access to figure this all out. On December 1st, 2021, we’ll be enabling this behavior for all blogs on Tumblr.
We’ll update all of the links when you click on tags in Tumblr. However, if you manually added links to your tags in your blog description, theme, somewhere off Tumblr, saved bookmarks, or in posts (like a pinned post on your blog), then you’ll need to update those links if they contain spaces, underscores, or hyphens. Spaces in tags will now be encoded as “%20” rather than “-” or “+”. To do this, turn that toggle on, and click around on your tags to see if any of the URLs changed. Having this setting enabled and updating any links you’ve saved somewhere will future-proof you for when we roll this change out site-wide.
ALT
We hope this is great news for anyone who uses tags in specific ways (we see you!) and has been frustrated that the way to link to them has been inconsistent, or just plain not working since… forever. We’re working on several fixes across Tumblr related to these inconsistencies, but the majority of them require no action on your part.
In the beta post editor on web, pasting or writing a single paragraph that exceeds the text block character limit will now split into multiple text blocks. We are still working to make the text editing process in the new editor more seamless for long-form writing, thanks for the continued feedback!
An “Open in Dashboard” button has been added in the Tumblr blog header for opening blogs and posts in your dashboard on web.
On web, you can now also hold “e” and click the reblog button to Fast Reblog; we’re trying to move away from using Alt, as it conflicts with browser shortcuts.
There is now a “Goth Rave” palette available on web, inspired by the new app icon for Tumblr on iOS.
🛠 Fixed
The post snake has returned in the latest Tumblr on Android. If you don’t know what the “post snake” is, try dragging the floating posting button around!
Fast reblogging on web (by holding “e” and clicking the reblog button) should no longer copy the post’s date or tags.
Images that are larger than 300px by 600px will be stretched to fill the full post view on web (formerly it was any image less than 300px wide, regardless of height).
Sharing posts to Twitter was broken for a short period of time yesterday (March 4th), but it should be resolved now.
Tumblr was generally unstable for a brief period of time yesterday (March 4th), but those issues should also be resolved now.
Fixed an issue where using an emoji before a mention in a reply would break the mention.
🚧 Ongoing
The Top Tags data for most blogs on Tumblr is missing and currently being regenerated; they should return to all blogs over the next day or so.
