johaHi! I have a question: I tried to install some indieweb-plugins on my wordpress-blog and the Parser-php always makes everything crash w/ a syntax error ("Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING" -> "wp-content/plugins/indieweb-post-kinds/vendor/mf2/mf2/Mf2/Parser.php on line 3"
schmarty!tell [manton] I can't seem to add my feed to my micro.blog/schmarty account. i removed my old atom feed from granary-demo.appspot.com. now when i add a json or atom feed from granary.io the form submits and shows no errors but also shows no feed. :[
schmarty!tell [manton] also on airplane wifi each page load seems to hang for a long time on requests from cdnjs.cloudflare.com. which seems... ironic?
aaronpkwhy is it the CDNs always end up being the ones holding up the page load? today on the plane I've seen more "waiting for fonts.google..." and "blablabl.cloudfront.net" than normal. and if you cancel the pageload you can usually end up seeing at least unstyled text.
Ruxtonbecause the other DNS entries were pre-fetched, cached and data potentially pulled inside the same connection if at least HTTP/1.1, the CDN's initiate new DNS queries, new connections and tend to pull a stack of libraries larger than the content of the page
[eddie]!tell aaronpk: micro.blog only shows photos if the feed’s content has an html img tag. It doesn’t support any images as attachments in the feeds or anything. I haven’t looked at your feed but that might be tied in to it
Loqiaaronpk: [eddie] left you a message 1 minute ago: micro.blog only shows photos if the feed’s content has an html img tag. It doesn’t support any images as attachments in the feeds or anything. I haven’t looked at your feed but that might be tied in to it
[eddie]From what I understand (and I could be wrong because I never got my jsonfeed working) but I think its only based on the content property currently
[miklb]something with News Explorer I’m sure. I removed the old feed I had, auto-discovery from Safari to News Explorer picked up the atom feed, still no images

[manton]schmarty Thanks, glad it eventually worked. Not aware of any errors there, so hopefully it was airplane wi-fi... But I'll do some more testing of the feeds page.
[manton]aaronpk I confirmed that Micro.blog currently ignores the JSON Feed image. As eddie said, it really wants it in the content_html. (It can be in both places... And perhaps Micro.blog should be more flexible about this.)
[eddie]I think even more important than just feeds is channels (or whatever a reader calls it). Because when you have just one river, the frequent will always override the rare. Wither podcasts, status updates or blog posts
aaronpkThere's no reason a Microsub server couldn't be clever like that and dynamically create its own channels based on frequency of posts in the feeds
RuxtonZegnat: that's was just twitter parsing the text, realising it was a valid username in twitter and linking it (note the username is linked, not the domain)
ZegnatSo if you want both the auto-linking to work on the original copy and on the POSSE twitter copy you need to have your twitter handle as domain name (as aaronpk has)
RuxtonYes but also easily done by just linking the domain like <a href="http://tanktek.com">@t</a> when you write the post then you'll get links in the post and the POSSE'd to twitter copy
ZegnatSure. And you can also have a cache of names (which I think aaronpk and sebsel have) to make sure the Twitter copy gets the correct name. Lots of solutions. I just thought this specific case was interesting
LoqiA pronoun is a word that people often use to refer to other people or objects instead of their names; on the indieweb you can express which pronouns should be used to refer to you https://indieweb.org/pronouns
sknebellisten vs read is interesting. I'd agree that "read" seems weird, so I'd tend towards listen and handle grouping differently - because for overview purposes I'D likely want audiobooks grouped with books and not music
[eddie]Yeah, the read vs. listen of audiobooks is difficult. Since I down currently “own my reads” I don’t have things in a “best case scenario”. As such, to date in Goodreads I’ve had to track audiobooks the same as reading.
[eddie]Grouping gets very difficult but I can also see use in listen verses read. It would allow me to find out how many “hours” I listened to a book rather than trying to turn that into pages “read” because I wouldn’t have actually read that many pages
[xavierroy]I use a Google spreadsheet also as a backup. In that I have hours listened metric for audiobooks whereas Goodreads just considers them as a book.
[xavierroy]Yes. I am just learning to use Hugo. I like its architecture better, though a better search or filter method would be great. I'm hesitant to move away from Simile as I like its filter/search option
sknebeljeremycherfas: small piece of feedback about site: it'd be nice if the click-targets for the footnotes would be a bit bigger (e.g. I think Zegnat links the word before the footnote to the footnote as well?) - not sure if there is an elegant way to get that automated?
sknebelI think rel=payment was mostly used by flattr. What aaronpk implemented on the weekend was the W3C payment apis, which give access to credit card credentials stored in the browser if I understood correctly (would need to watch the demos again)
jeremycherfasFootnotes in Grav are part of native Markdown support, so not sure how I can change the way it is rendered as HTML. But I can definitely change the presentation.

snarfed khurtwilliams[m] i noticed that you're trying out bridgy fed. cool! looks like it's not working because your post has an h-entry inside another h-entry, and the u-in-reply-to links are all in the inner one. bridgy fed doesn't handle nested entries like that.
snarfedmost of your attempts had an h-entry inside another h-entry, and most of the in-reply-tos pointing to webmention.rocks, not a mastodon post. if you try just one top-level h-entry, with just one u-in-reply-to pointing to a mastodon post URL, you'll have better luck.
Loqi[Khürt Williams] @snarfed trying to follow the information here https://fed.brid.gy/#use to setup Bridgy Fed to mastodon. Can’t grok what’s being asked. Can you help?
j12tKartikPrabhu: very nice. Another thing I noticed is that when I log in, after the redirect from indieauth, I get a cached front page that still says "Login". It requires a manual refresh to get the logged-in version of the page.
