I need feminism because I should be able to fall asleep next to a platonic friend and not wake up with his hands in my pants!

You don’t need feminism you need different friends.
If people just learned the definition of “feminist” it would be so easy
…these are simple, easy questions man. This is entry level, white feminism 101. You’re not a feminist for agreeing with those questions, you’re just a decent fucking person. Maybe dig a little deeper into real, actual feminism such as:
their thoughts on trans women being subjected to violence, sometimes even death, due to men’s threatened masculinity?
their thoughts on men in politics trying to have ownership over women’s bodies?
their thoughts on reproductive issues for black women choosing not to have kids because of the very real threat of police brutality?
their thoughts on lesbians and queer women being sexually objectified?
their thoughts on gendered violence, when 1 in 4 women will be raped or sexually assaulted in their lifetime?

You know how 1st world feminists get told that they don’t need feminism? They’re told that they should be glad they’re not “really oppressed” like the women in 3rd world countries. That things could always be worse.
You know what my mother tells me? She says I don’t need feminism because I should be glad I’m born in an urban city of Pakistan. She says, at least I wasn’t born in a rural area where girls are married off to men twice their age. That things could always be worse.
And our house maid, Shabana, who was married to her uncle at 15 and, at 18, has 2 children, she doesn’t even know what feminism is. She was told by her father that she should be glad her husband doesn’t beat her and hasn’t thrown tehzaab (acid) at her. That things could always be worse.
Am I the only one seeing a very disturbing pattern here?

Good dog.
[…] And with gloating eyes she drew me to her, and her hot lips traveled along my cheek in kisses; and she would whisper, almost in sobs, “You are mine, you shall be mine, you and I are one for ever.”

when discussing the taylor/nicki thing, please
- recognize nicki pointed out a real issue
- recognize taylor made a mistake
- but don’t assume she is the devil because she made this mistake
- and don’t try to invalidate taylor’s feminism because she stupidly thought a tweet was about her when it wasn’t
- recognize anaconda’s impact
- don’t slut shame nicki
- don’t hate on taylor
- don’t hate on nicki
- don’t hate on anyone
- don’t make it a competition between fans
- discuss the real issue because I bet nicki would prefer that we discussed what she was trying to point out than trying to destroy taylor which is only taking the focus out of what nicki was trying to talk about
- thanks
Feminism didn’t teach me to hate men, but it did teach me to stop prioritising them over women.
And it turns out a lot of men think that’s the same thing as hatred.
Idk I think feminism should be called something different like common sense or something
