  • Bummer! Sad to hear this.
  • That's very cool! Dinosaur Jr. live is spectacular. They are one of those bands that, as good as the boots or live recordings are, must be experienced first hand to fully understand. The vibe, energy and crushing SPLs just don't translate to recorded media. It's really great that they're doing this!
  • Pretty sure those Jeff's bass rigs.
  • That looks great! Glad you were able to get the playability issues sorted out, too. For what these things cost new, high frets, improperly cut nuts and basic setup issues shouldn't exist from the factory. Part of me wonders if the high demand for this model lead to some of them being fast tracked out the door without…
  • That's very cool! Love the matching headstock and no pickguard. Very clean look.
  • I got the strobe working today. This one is coming along nicely. So far, nothing has been too difficult to deal with. Definitely simpler than the Dual idler drive record changer models.
  • It sounds like you have one hell of a collection of Duals! A 1229 is on my bucket list to restore. It's a true classic, for sure. This 604 still has a couple things that need to be done but I have high expectations for it when it's finished. Seems like a lot of people really love the Dual direct drives and I'm super…
  • Picked up this Dual 604 this weekend. It's in great shape for its age. This is the first single play, direct drive Dual I've had. All of the others have been idler drive record changers. I love those old idler drives, I was just looking for something a little different. This 604 has a way simpler operating mechanism than…
  • Not excited to hear that. Sorry man. Have you tried working all of the controls? A lot of times I have seen a channel drop out from a dirty contact in the Tape Monitor switch. Sometimes it's the speaker select switches or the volume control. I'd recommend pushing all of the buttons a number of times and turning all of the…
  • Drag! Win some, lose some I guess. At least you don't have any maintenance to do on them. Always has to be a bright side. Haha
  • Excellent! I bought one too. It was at a time when I needed a guitar for gigs and a few recording commitments. I figured that I would buy a nicer guitar after I got paid from those jobs. Well, I still have it and it remains one of my absolute favorite guitars ever. Sounds much better than it should, given its HPL…
  • Cool collection! Is that a Martin DCX-1E on the left?
  • Alright. This is the last one. Had to change the previous grille cloth. The weave was too tight and the grilles were pumping in and out with the speakers. Kind of cool to watch but ultimately not the best situation for sound quality. The air from inside the cabinet was trapped in there with nowhere to go. This stuff is…
  • Yes, it's actually called "Howard Feed-N-Wax Wood Polish and Conditioner". It's the stuff with beeswax and orange oil.
  • That's beautiful! Well done. I'd be proud as hell of that.
  • Simple as that. Haha!
  • Haha! As much as I would love to do that, that level of restoration is beyond my capabilities. Maybe one day I will get brave enough for something like that. Do you still have your 2245?
  • Thanks man. You gotta hear these things sometime.
  • That's awesome, Brian! Nice to see that thing live on.
  • That bolded part seems to be at odds with the Everytown stats. If the Brady figure is accurate, that's almost 3,000 annually.

  • I actually didn't sand them at all. I washed them with water and a white rag. Kept at it until no more stuff was coming off them and the rag stayed white. After that, I used a product called "Howard's Feed and Wax". Just wipe it on, rub it in and buff with a clean cloth. That stuff is miraculous! I've been using it on…
  • Thanks! It was a fun project and very rewarding. A lot of this vintage gear is totally worth preserving for the next generation.

  • I just finished restoring these Marantz Imperial 6 speakers. They sound really, really good! Marantz pretty much went all in on developing these back in the 70's. They did a great job but they didn't sell very well, especially compared to the JBL and Advent speakers that were available at the same time. Super excited to…
  • Speaking honestly, probably the most important part of our home security system is not the alarm, locks or my training......it is my dog. I don't think that he would attack someone trying to break into my home but he would undoubtedly let me know someone was there.

  • I respect that opinion and point of view. I understand that it was formed by your life experience and I am glad that you haven't had to deal with violence in the way that some other people have. You are truly fortunate for that. In my experience, I have lost a family member to a murderer and I know two people who have…

  • Cool man! I think you should look at delay, phaser and wah next. I would probably add them in that order, too. You're off to a great start!
