Succession star Alan Ruck makes a splash with mermaid cane on Emmys red carpet

The actor, who recently had knee replacement surgery, equated his aquatic accessory to a "safety blanket."

Alan Ruck is making waves on the Emmys red carpet with his impeccable fashion sense.

The Succession star, who recently underwent knee replacement surgery, stopped by EW and PEOPLE’s red carpet livestream to show off the very stylish aquatic accessory he brought to the event: a mermaid cane.

"I actually have been feeling pretty good the past couple days. I’ve been not using a cane, but my stylist Jenny Ricker found that. Look at that little mermaid!" Ruck explained, lifting the cane up to highlight its silver mermaid handle. "So I felt like I had to bring it. I felt like there’s no way I could leave it at home."

Alan Ruck shows off his cane on the red carpet of the 75th Emmy Awards.

Ruck, who is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series this evening, said the cane supports him not only physically, but mentally too. He added, "It’s a security blanket."

The Ferris Bueller's Day Off actor completed his look with a black and navy blue suit, black glasses, and a matching blue bowtie.

This isn’t the first time that Ruck has walked the red carpet using a cane in recent weeks. He also sported a black cane — which matched perfectly with his all-black ensemble — while attending the Golden Globes last week.
