All My Children actor Alec Musser's cause of death revealed by authorities

The actor's fiancée, Paige Press, addressed his death at 50 over the weekend, calling Musser "the love of my life."

All My Children star Alec Musser's cause of death has been revealed.

The actor, who played Del Henry for two seasons on the beloved ABC soap opera, died by suicide from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest, the San Diego County Medial Examiner's Office said in a news release. He was 50.

Musser was last seen alive by his fiancée, Paige Press, in their Del Mar home before she went to bed Friday, authorities said. When she woke up, Press discovered Musser "seated and slumped forward on the bathroom floor" with a firearm located nearby and called 911.

Press had addressed Musser's death in a series of poignant Instagram Story posts Saturday evening. "RIP to the love of my life," she wrote. "I will never stop loving you. My heart is broken."

She added, "You were the best fiancée I could [have] ever asked for."

Musser landed his role on All My Children after winning the Soapnet reality television contest I Wanna Be a Soap Star. He also starred as a high-voiced beach stud who caught the attention of Salma HayekMaria BelloMaya Rudolph, and Joyce Van Patten's characters in the 2010 comedy Grown Ups. He made his final screen appearance in a 2011 episode of Desperate Housewives.
