Ariana Grande's epic 'Yes, and?' video slams critics obsessed with her sex life

"Why do you care so much whose... I ride?" Grande sings in the new song and video that sees the pop star schooling a group of rabid fans and critics.

Ariana Grande has her ponytail — and sights — dead-set on critics obsessed with her sex life in the epic music video for her new song "Yes, and?"

After making headlines throughout 2023 for her high-profile divorce from Dalton Gomez and subsequent rumored romance with her Wicked costar Ethan Slater, the 30-year-old unleashed a pointed critique of the media frenzy surrounding herself, as she brazenly asks, "Why do you care so much whose... I ride?" toward the climax of the single.

The video (above) begins with a group of journalists, critics, and shady fans congregating inside an abandoned warehouse, where they've received an invitation to attend a special event marking the launch of Grande's upcoming album, affectionately dubbed AG7, as it marks her seventh full-length studio release.

"You know, I think I liked her better when her ponytail was a few centimeters higher," one snooty follower quips, while another adds, "I miss the old Ari. You know, the singer!"

As the group enters the space, they're greeted by stone statues of Grande and her backup dancers, who suddenly come to life and court them into their world of accepting the pop star on her terms.

Later, she glides over to the group — all of whom begin undressing in front of her, under the singer-songwriter's command — as she issues a diva-sized decree in reaction to their biting commentary.

"My tongue is sacred, I speak upon what I like. Protective, sexy, discerning with my time. Your energy is yours, and mine is mine. What's mine is mine. My face is sitting, I don't need no disguise," she says. "Don't comment on my body, do not reply. Your business is yours, and mine is mine. Why do you care so much whose... I ride?"

At the tail end of the video, as a group of freshly converted Arianators leaves the room after Grande and her crew turn back to stone, all while a new group of skeptics make their way into the chamber for their own indoctrination into the performer's new era.

"Yes, and?" serves as the lead single for Grande's next album, which she teased via social media across the last few weeks of 2023.

“I’m so tired," Grande said in an Instagram video in December, hinting that the album was almost finished. "I’m so happy and grateful. I also feel like I weigh 3,000 tons. The idea of moving is impossible."
