Norah Jones stays at No. 1 for a third straight week

It took Norah Jones’ debut, ”Come Away With Me,” nearly a year to reach the top of the Billboard album chart, but it’s holding on to that real estate with a vengeance. For the third straight week, the Grammy-nominated disc was No. 1, selling another 112,000 copies, according to SoundScan, for a total of more than 3.1 million to date. It held off a challenge from the ”Chicago” soundtrack, riding the movie’s wave of pre-Oscar award nominations and rising two spots this week to No. 2, on sales of 91,000. That album, in turn, edged out Avril Lavigne’s ”Let Go,” slipping one slot to third place and shifting another 90,000 units. At No. 4 was Dixie Chicks’ ”Home,” whose sales of 87,000 this week pushed it past 4 million after five months in stores. Jennifer Lopez’s ”This Is Me… Then” sold another 80,000 discs and remained in fifth place.

The big shocker in the top 10 came from Kid Rock, whose 2001 release ”Cocky” has vaulted from the nether reaches of the chart up to No. 7 on the strength of the single ”Picture,” his duet with ex-flame Sheryl Crow. Otherwise, the top 10 remained much like last week, with the ”8 Mile” soundtrack holding at No. 6, Missy Elliott’s ”Under Construction” and Aaliyah’s ”I Care 4 U” sliding one slot apiece to No. 8 and No. 9, and Ja Rule’s ”The Last Temptation” staying put at No. 10.
