For her entire life, 16-year-old Hanna (Saoirse Ronan) has been trained to be a fighter. She lives alone in rural Finland with her father (Eric Bana), a former CIA agent who’s taught her how to hunt, fight, and kill. When the eponymous teen is separated from her father, she must rely on the skills she learned from him in order to save him and uncover a host of dark secrets. The film’s a bit of a departure for director Joe Wright, whose previous credits include lush period fare like Pride and Prejudice and Atonement. Still, he’s managed to lock down a magnetic leading lady in Ronan, so we’re not too worried. (Oh, and in case you were wondering: Her name is pronounced SIR-shah.)
