Anyone who’s seen Prometheus in a 3-D (non-IMAX) theater has likely witnessed an eye-popping preview of director Ang Lee’s Life of Pi, based on the best-selling novel about the title hero’s experiences while stranded in the open ocean with a Bengal tiger. But if philosophically slimy sci-fi isn’t your cup of tea, you can still get a very quick idea of what’s in store in the short clip below:
The clip is the first thing you see when visiting the official Life of Pi website, which at this point otherwise only features six visually arresting shots from the film. The New York Times reported last week that other 3-D scenes from the film will play before Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Ice Age: Continental Drift. It’s due for release in theaters Dec. 21, 2012.
