Anne Hathaway: 2012 Entertainers of the year

”I know her well enough to call her Annie. Real friends of hers can call her Annie, like real friends of mine can call me Jimothy or Jimberlake — although to this day no one has called me either, so I’m still searching for my true friends. Anyway, I’ve known Annie now for a bunch of years.

I am a Les Miz fan, and it’s gonna be killer. It’s perfect casting because she loves musical theater. She called me once to get advice because she was hosting the Academy Awards. I go, ‘This is good. Here’s the thing: I’m not sure anyone’s gonna get this ”Suddenly Seymour” reference. I mean, a certain group will … ‘ We know each other that well and can be straight-up.

When I saw her in The Dark Knight Rises, I was watching it and I was like, ‘Okay, I don’t know how she’s going to turn into Catwoman. Maybe she’s going to get bitten by a cat. I don’t know the comics as well as everybody else does.’ It turns out she is Catwoman, acting like a girl who is not Catwoman. That is brilliant! She’s one of those rare talents who has the charm, the looks, and a vulnerability — those doe eyes.” —Jimmy Fallon
