Casting Net: Ashley Benson boards 'Pixels'; Plus, Liam Hemsworth, more

Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson has joined the cast of Pixels, a Sony comedy starring Adam Sandler, Josh Gad, and Peter Dinklage as a group of ’80s video game champions who President Kevin James calls on to save the day when aliens attack using strategies from those games. Benson will play a character named Lady Lisa, described as “a beautiful warrior from the fictional ’80s video game Dojo Quest.” [The Wrap]

Hunger Games co-stars Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson may team up for the Western action thriller By Way of Helena. The story follows a Texas ranger (Hemsworth) in the 1880s who is dispatched to a remote town to investigate some mysterious murders. Harrelson would play a preacher who has a stronghold on the townspeople in the Kieran Darcy-Smith-directed pic. [Deadline]

• Olivia Munn is in talks to join the cast of Ride Along 2 opposite Ice Cube and Kevin Hart. Her involvement depends on her Newsroom schedule. The HBO drama is about to begin shooting its third season. [Variety]

• Henry Czerny (Revenge) will play Christopher Plummer‘s son in Remember, a thriller from director Atom Egoyan. According to the vague logline, in the film, “the darkest chapter of modern history collides with a contemporary mission of revenge.” [Deadline]

• Danny Glover has joined the Canadian action thriller Gridlocked, starring Prison Break‘s Dominic Purcell as a former SWAT member who is being shadowed by a movie star (Cody Hackman). Glover will play the police chief. Allan Ungar is directing. [THR]

WWE star John Cena has joined the cast of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler‘s The Nest. Details surrounding his role are being kept under wraps. [Deadline]

In a bit of non-casting news, Disney has tapped co-writers J. David Stern and David N. Weiss (Shrek 2, The Smurfs) to pen the screenplay for Enchanted 2. Anne Fletcher (The Proposal) is directing the sequel, but no word yet on who will be returning from the original cast, which included Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, and Idina Menzel.
