We knew she was coming, and now we know when: Dahlia will make her present-day New Orleans debut in the April 13 episode of The Originals, and we’ve got an exclusive first look at her arrival.

Played by Claudia Black, the big bad aunt, who’s fittingly dressed in all black, will surely have her sights set on Baby Hope, and according to Joseph Morgan, she’s just as terrifying as you want her to be.

“It’s just so exciting that they got the casting so right because I was so worried,” Morgan said. “We built up Dahlia for a long time—if someone comes in and is terrible or really isn’t frightening in any way or something, that’s the season ruined. But Claudia Black is just wonderful. First of all, she’s a veteran at sci-fi and fantasy. She knows what she’s doing, so she’s really able to handle the intensity of those speeches about curses and witches and wolves and vampires and all of that stuff, which is a whole other skill set to teach at drama school.”

As for what Dahlia’s arrival in New Orleans means for Klaus, Morgan hinted that those references to similarities between Klaus and Dahlia won’t go unrecognized. “They’re definitely of the same blood,” he teased.
