The trailers that precede a feature film can be the best part of some moviegoers’ experience. Each year, the Golden Trailer Awards honor the year’s most outstanding achievements in picture and television marketing

“The movie trailer is the most important piece of marketing in the studio’s war chest,” said Golden Trailer Awards Executive Director Evelyn Watters in a statement. “A memorable trailer can make or break a campaign, especially today, when so many people are viewing these materials digitally.”

This year, Universal Pictures leads the studio race with 44 nominations for films such as Furious 7, Minions, Ted 2 and Jurassic World. Fox grabbed 41 nominations for Birdman, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Gone Girl and Wild, to name a few.

Ignition Creative takes the top spot for agencies with 44 nominations, spanning 12 trailers and TV spots and 32 print contenders. AV Squad takes second with 26 nominations, narrowly passing Trailer Park’s 25 nods.

The Golden Trailer Awards are given to nominees across 82 categories—19 of which will be presented live at the May 6 ceremony—including Best Summer Blockbuster Trailer Awards, Most Romantic Trailer and Best of Show. The Golden Fleece Award goes to the trailer for which the marketing was considered better than the film it was advertising.
