Bill Paxton talks 'Alien' reboot: 'You've got to have Hudson!'

Earlier this year, District 9 and Chappie director Neill Blomkamp announced that he hoped to make a new Alien movie. The filmmaker also posted concept art featuring Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley and Cpl. Hicks, the character played by Michael Biehn in James Cameron’s 1986 sequel, Aliens, who died between the events of that film and those depicted in David Fincher’s Alien 3.

But what about Hicks’ fellow space grunt, the panicky Pvt. Hudson portrayed by Bill Paxton, who died in Cameron’s sequel? Is it possible we might ever seen him again? Given that Blomkamp plans to make a direct sequel to Aliens, probably not. However, we thought we would ask Paxton himself. When EW recently spoke with the actor, who was promoting History’s upcoming miniseries Texas Rising (which debuts May 25), the Big Love star admitted that he was unfamiliar with Blomkamp’s intentions—”That’s the first I’ve heard of that”—but seemed rather keen on the idea of returning to his first major role. “Maybe,” said Paxton. “I mean, if you’re going to bring Hicks back, you’ve got to have Hudson!”
