This is what the next Jurassic film could be...

Jurassic World stomped all sorts of box-office records over the weekend, earning $208.8 million to top The Avengers for the biggest opening weekend of all-time. So it goes without saying that it will not take another 14 years for Universal to make the next Jurassic sequel, and the only question is, what’s next for the ginormous franchise? [SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN’T YET SEEN JURASSIC WORLD]

Chris Pratt told EW that he’s signed on for at least one sequel and director Colin Trevorrow told EW in March that World was planting the seeds for a broader chapter in the franchise, one that may not exist on Isla Sorna. “I felt like it was my responsibility to at least tee up where we could go, and in doing that I felt like I don’t want to make it yet another island movie or another theme-park movie,” Trevorrow said.

“I felt by introducing a couple key ideas and some of them are introduced by Dr. Wu, played by BD Wong, and even the simple idea that these people at Jurassic World won’t always be the only people that can clone a dinosaur,” continued Trevorrow, who’s said he doesn’t plan to direct a follow-up. “What happens when this technology goes open source? I think the minute that you add an idea like that into something like this, it can open up the minds of every young person who loved these movies. I think there’s a lot room to grow.”

For those of us who’ve seen the film, we know that Vincent D’Onofrio’s character, Hoskins, was interested in weaponizing the dinos and using them in warfare—almost like prehistoric drones. Towards the end of the film, Dr. Wu is seen leaving the island with several of the dino embryos. Could the next installment of the series see dinos bred for battle? Could the next film be Jurassic War? It certainly feels that way. Plus, Pratt’s Owen Brady is ex-military, which makes for an easy way of folding him back into the film series.

With Jurassic World‘s huge opening weekend, I’m guessing we won’t have to wait long to hear about details for the next Jurassic flick.
