Carlton Cuse, Josh Holloway talk the many mysteries of 'Colony'

Carlton Cuse won’t say much about his upcoming USA show, Colony, but he will say this: “This is not 1776,” he told EW at New York Comic Con. “I can confirm there are no powdered wigs in the show.”

Once he got that out of the way, Cuse and Colony co-creator Ryan Condal talked about what the show is really about. Set in Los Angeles, one family struggles in a new world colonized by mysterious intruders. “What’s happened is largely a mystery to the characters in the show as well, so really, you’re discovering things in the show through the characters that are in the show,” Condal said. “So it’s this kind of a collective experience for everybody.”

Colony star Josh Holloway, who previously worked with Cuse on Lost, added that the show asks, “What decisions are you forced to make? How are you going to fight this? Are you going to collaborate or resist?”

If Cuse’s previous projects are any indication, the show won’t answer any of those questions right away — but you can start guesing what those answers might be when the first episode premieres on USA Jan. 14. Watch EW’s Comic Con interview with Cuse, Condal, and Holloway above.
