Delivering the high-heeled stunts for Jurassic World was a “tricky” task for actress Bryce Dallas Howard — so, she’s not exactly mad that many talked about that aspect of her performance in the action-packed summer blockbuster.

“If too much attention is called to it, it’s like, ‘Oh, man — maybe I did something wrong, because they’re paying attention to the thing that they really shouldn’t be paying attention to,’” Howard told People during a recent interview. “But in this case, I loved it because I was like, ‘Yeah! Damn right I ran in heels!’”

But her role as Claire Dearing did far more than just “facilitate the male lead” (Chris Pratt’s Owen Grady) and “push the plot along” — in fact, director Colin Trevorrow told her that he saw her character as more of the lead as she’s the one who “changes.”

“And then when I read the film, I was like, ‘Holy crap — he’s doing it! He’s really, really doing it,’” Howard said. “In fact, this character is a central character who does go through huge change, she is flawed and she has all the attributes that typically a male character in one of these movies would have. And she is the hero at the end — and that’s awesome!”

The sequel for Jurassic World is set for June 22, 2018, with more on the film available here. Head on over to People for the full interview with Howard.
