Alessia Cara joins Taylor Swift's squad

The rising star hit the 1989 Tour in Tampa, Fla.

Following in the grand tradition of Gigi Hadid, Nelly, Ellie Goulding, Ed Sheeran, Mariska Hargitay, and more, Alessia Cara just became the latest star to join Taylor Swift’s squad.

The 19-year-old performer dropped in on Swift’s ongoing 1989 World Tour on Saturday. Cara surprised the packed crowd at Tampa, Fla.’s Raymond James Stadium with a performance of her breakout single “Here.”

With the 25-year-old Grammy winner by her side, Cara put on an impressive performance of the track, belting in front of an army of Solo Cup-toting backup dancers.

Swift shared video from the moment via Instagram, writing of her new friend, “Getting to share the stage with @alessiasmusic during ‘Here’. Honestly couldn’t be more impressed by this girl.”

Cara, who dropped her debut EP Four Pink Walls in August, followed suit, Instagramming her own video from the show and captioning the clip, “@taylorswift thank you for showing me what 55,000 people looks like. you are the classiest, sweetest, most lovely person and I can’t thank you enough for what just happened. Also I can’t feel my body. goodnight everyone I quit life.”

Fellow Swift Squad member Lorde even weighed in, responding “my angels!!!” to Swift’s tweet about the collaboration.

Quickly making a name for herself, the rising star from Canada announced last month that she has plans to drop her debut studio album. Cara will release Know-It-All on Nov. 13 under Def Jam.
