Ant-Man and the Wasp: Michael Douglas open to returning

Ant-Man costar Michael Douglas is eyeing—presumably with a magnifying glass—a return in the Marvel sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp.

The esteemed actor recently told Collider that he’s been in touch with the studio about reprising his role as Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man, mentor to Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), and father to Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), the future Wasp.

“I just got a call — they want to negotiate for a sequel and I thought, ‘That’s great!'” Douglas said. “Hopefully, I won’t have to carry quite as much expositional dialogue as the first one, but I had a wonderful time doing it.”

Speaking of the sequel, he added, “I welcome it. I chuckle about being involved with a movie that already has a release date in 2018. You know, it’s hard to conceive of that, but it’s all good.”

Marvel did not immediately respond to a request for comment about Douglas’ remarks.

As Douglas alluded to, Ant-Man and the Wasp is already scheduled to hit theaters July 6, 2018. Rudd, Lilly, and director Peyton Reed are returning for the sequel, which will be the first Marvel joint to feature a female hero’s name in the title.
