'Hannibal' returns: Bryan Fuller creates PETA shock ad with Gillian Anderson

Hannibal may be finished. But you can still see 30 seconds more — sort of — in this new Hannibal-themed ad for PETA shot by the former NBC series’ showrunner Bryan Fuller. Here, Hannibal costar Gillian Anderson sits at a dinner table and, well … best not to say any more.

“Writing Hannibal made me realize that human beings and other animals have more similarities than differences,” Fuller previously told EW of his decision to become a pescatarian. “It had a direct impact on how I view meat and what I put in my body. Eating another sentient being is no different than eating another human being, in my mind. The trauma of Hannibal cuts both ways.”

The animal-rights organization is launching the ad to be timed to pre-Thanksgiving meal planning. A bit of advice: Watch in a dark room as the spot’s reveal can be a bit tough to make out otherwise.

Fuller has a couple other big TV projects in the works: There’s the Starz’ fantasy drama American Gods, plus his reboot of the NBC anthology series Amazing Stories.
