Galavant returns for a second season next year, and its first TV promo will debut during this Sunday’s American Music Awards — but EW has your exclusive first look now, in addition to some new key art.

Season 2 will see Galavant (Joshua Sasse) palling around with King Richard (Timothy Omundson) after having discovered the dark side of Madelana (Mallory Jansen). That apparently entails dance numbers on the high seas, deflecting knives, and getting slapped across the face many, many times. Elsewhere, our title hero hasn’t forgotten about that kiss from the finale as he attempts to rekindle the fire between him and Isabella (Karen David).

Galavant and Richard also pose side by side with a trusty steed in the new key art (below), which boasts the return of this “comedy extravaganza.”

Vinnie Jones and Luke Youngblood will return as Gareth and Sid, while the creative team sees executive producer Dan Fogelman (Crazy, Stupid, Love), composer Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast), and lyricist Glenn Slater (The Little Mermaid). Joining this trio of EPs are Chris Koch, Kat Likkel, and John Hoberg.

Galavant season 2 will debut on Sunday, Jan. 3, at 8 p.m. ET.
