Veep season 5 teaser trailer: Julia Louis-Dreyfus struggles to address the nation

Campaigning for the presidency is rough enough, but campaigning after a tie? Even worse, it seems. In the first teaser for season five of HBO’s Veep, Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) struggles to keep up appearances.

Addressing the nation from her seat in the Oval Office, she recaps what happened — an unprecedented tie in the electoral college has left things up in the air — and proceeds to praise “our democratic system.” Of course, that’s not exactly her point of view about the events. “This election has just been brutal on me,” she tells loyal Gary (Tony Hale). “My eyelids are starting to look like Keith Richards’ ballsack.”
