From gushing over the Star Wars robots to complimenting host Chris Rock on his work in Madagascar, Jacob Tremblay stole many moments throughout Sunday night’s Academy Awards ceremony. But when his Room co-star Brie Larson received the award for Best Actress, he let her take the spotlight, just as he promised earlier in evening.

“I’ll stand up on the chair and I’ll cheer like ‘Yes!,'” Tremblay told EW on the Oscars red carpet.

Though he didn’t get too rowdy when Larson’s name was announced, the 9-year-old actor gave his onscreen mom a hug and cheered her on as she took the stage. The 26-year-old actress then thanked Tremblay during her acceptance speech.

Room ultimately lost the Best Picture award to Spotlight, but hopefully that doesn’t ruin Tremblay’s plans to hit up Sunday night’s Oscars afterparties.
