Radiohead tickets: Thom Yorke angered by sellouts

Radiohead concerts seem to occur as often as Leap Day. Tickets are as fleeting, too, and frontman Thom Yorke has some empathy for the struggle.

Tickets for the group’s 2016 World Tour went on sale Friday. But earlier in the day, the group’s three-show stay at London’s tiny Roundhouse went up for grabs and quickly sold out.

Yorke hit Twitter early Friday and wrote to share the pain of fans who missed out. “I’m as f—ed off as you are,” he tweeted, “and am only human.”

The message could also be a note about ticket pricing, which were set at £65 (about $94) plus fees. Radiohead’s shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden were listed at $80, while the two gigs at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles start from $75, both before fees.

The remainder of Radiohead’s headlining shows sold out in minutes, and the band took to Twitter later in the day to address the collective uproar from their fans. They cautioned concertgoers against buying secondary tickets, insisting there would be strict ID checks put into place.

“If you’re thinking of buying a ticket from a secondary sites PLEASE PLEASE carefully check the original rules of the venue concerned…” the group tweeted. “Many of the tickets will be named & stringent ID checks will be in place; you risk being refused entry to the venue.” They added, “We hope you understand the need to put such measures in place to give more fans a chance to get to the shows.”
