Gilmore Girls creator would do Bunheads revival 'in a heartbeat'

Now that Amy Sherman-Palladino is in business with Netflix for four 90-minute Gilmore Girls movies coming out later this year, is there any chance she’ll give her gone-too-soon series Bunheads the same treatment?

After all, she’s spending a lot of time with former Bunheads stars Kelly Bishop and Sutton Foster these days; the latter will appear in the third Gilmore movie as the lead in a Stars Hollow musical. “[Bunheads] didn’t have the time to build a fan base, and I don’t know that it exists anywhere,” Sherman-Palladino says. Indeed, the former ABC Family series can’t be found on Netflix, Hulu, nor Amazon Instant.

“Look, in a heartbeat if they wanted to do something like that,” she adds. “Just to sit in a room with Sutton Foster, I’d do in a second.”

For the uninitiated, Bunheads follows Michelle, a former ballerina (Foster) turned Las Vegas showgirl who moves to a sleepy coastal town to be with her new husband after realizing that her life and career are at a dead end. When her husband dies in a car accident, Michelle begins teaching ballet alongside her mother-in-law (Bishop) at the latter’s school, the Paradise Dance Academy. The series was canceled after one season.
