Kanye West: Anna Wintour got lost at his MSG show

As Seth Meyers noted on Tuesday, longtime Vogue editor Anna Wintour does not look like the kind of person who should be wandering around the Madison Square Garden basement. And yet that’s exactly what Wintour found herself doing at Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo show in February, which doubled as both an album premiere and “migrant chic” fashion show.

Wintour arrived early and ended up sitting mostly by herself while everyone waited for the Kardashians to arrive. Then, 45 minutes into the show, she saw Jay Z duck out and tried to follow suit, only to lose herself in the labyrinthine basement of the MSG.

“I was lost there for half an hour, asking various people to let me out,” Wintour said. “I don’t know if you’ve ever been to the basement of Madison Square Garden …”

“No, because I don’t wear sunglasses inside, so I see exit signs,” Meyers joked in reply.

“Anyway, I was in tears, and then this little security guard came up to me and said, ‘Did your son play baseball for collegiate?'” Wintour recalled. “And I said yes. He said, ‘Oh, I was his coach, can I help you?’ I was like, ‘Yes, please take me out of here.'”
